Stephen Kinsella has master-minded a new kind of journal… Online, minimal copyright restrictions and quick time to publish. Outstanding! My new goal: Have an article published in Libertarian Papers.

Interview with Madeleine, age 3.
I was trying an iPhone app for voice recording and found that my children enjoyed being recorded in that way and spoke very naturally. I thought the interviews really captured something of their personality.
“The first rule of holes: If you are in one, stop digging. “Many software developers take this to mean that if you have a huge legacy mess in your software you should stop working on it and rewrite…
Capitalism and the Family by Steven Horwitz.
Not sure what I think of his thoughts on marriage, (he only seems to see upside to more divorce for example), but his point about the rise of “extended adolescence” seems right. Children are no longer needed (or allowed) to do something useful.
Stephen Cox: “Yet it was in Christendom that the founding documents of a religious regime announced that God’s kingdom is not, in fact, a franchise of this world. It was in Christendom that the…
Ransom
Elwin Ransom (typically just referred to as Ransom) is a character in three books by C.S. Lewis sometimes known as the Space Trilogy. He is the main character in Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra. He is an important character in That Hideous Strength.
The word ransom appears several times in the Greek Scriptures, in all cases as a reference to the Messiah. This is the particular passage I had in mind when naming my son (note the libertarian theme!):
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” —Matthew 20:25-28
Starting a hundred years ago, Americans gradually increased the age of adulthood to what many Americans now believe to be 26. You’ve heard, “30 is the new 20,” and “50 is the new 30.” Soon we will all be kids again.
This relatively new podcast has been a real pleasure for me. Lew typically keeps the episodes to 15 minutes or less. But don’t let the short length fool you. Each episode overturns some modern superstition.
After reading LewRockwell.com for years (and contributing the occasional article) you would think there would be little to surprise me. But even I have learned quite a bit listening to the show.
Not only are many topics in political economy covered, as you might expect, but also medicine, personal finance, history and more. What show anywhere is quite like it?
I like the show so much that I volunteered to do the show notes. My hope is that providing links to further material will encourage listeners to turn interest sparked by an episode into deeper study.
