Apple offers 160 gig Apple TV →
I was already planning on getting an Apple TV but the larger hard drive turns it up to 11. This means that my massive music library can be synced and there will still be plenty of room for TV shows, shorts, music videos and movies.

“What good’s all your uncle’s work if the Empire takes it over? You know they’ve already started to nationalize commerce in the central systems? It won’t be long before your uncle is just a tenant, slaving for the greater glory of the Empire.”

Abandon All Unwinnable Wars →
War imagery may be the most commonly abused analogy in politics. War imagery is invoked to show determination to win. But as Senator Reid and others assert with regard to Iraq, shooting wars have no winners; just those who lose more and those who lose less as casualties mount.

Cindy Sheehan Quits Peace Movement →
This breaks my heart. Cindy has been brutally attacked from all sides, yet she kept on going. She didn’t do the things she did for attention, money or personal gain. Her son was killed and all she wanted was for the war to end so others didn’t have to die they way Casey did. Did she make some bad decisions along the way? Perhaps. Was her heart in t

Memorial Day orators will say that a G.I.’s life is priceless. Don’t believe it. I know what value the U.S. government assigns to a soldier’s life: I’ve been handed the check.
'Wiped off the Map' - The Rumor of the Century →
Somehow our media turned Ahmedinijad’s benign statement “As the Soviet Union disappeared, the Zionist regime will also vanish and humanity will be liberated.” into the menacing “Israel will be wiped out”. Our media also conveniently ignored the statement by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, that “We will never start a war.”

U.S. candidate Paul assigns reading to Giuliani →
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Longshot Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on Thursday gave front-runner Rudy Giuliani a list of foreign-policy books to back up his contention that attacks by Islamic militants are fueled by the U.S. presence in the Middle East.

A Chinese co-worker recently returned from a visit back home after not being back in China since 2000. His account of the changes he saw from those 7 years of the (somewhat) unleashed market is amazing and encouraging.

Is Mises.org gaming Digg? →
No way. Popularity isn’t the only standard of truth and beauty, and it may not be a standard at all. But one can still detect the existence of a volition-driven meritocracy, even in the wild and crazy world of the web. (This post ends with a tribute to Bill Gates: digg it down!)
War Without Consequence? Absurd. →
A reasoned argument on the consequences of aggressive foreign policy. Paul Wolfowitz made the same points - four years before Giuliani criticized Ron Paul by saying he had ‘never heard of such a thing’.
The Market Function of Piracy →
In marketing the most effective way to introduce new products is the free sample. In 1978 Lever Brothers spent $15 million ($47.55 million in today’s currency) delivering a free sample of Signal Mouthwash to two-thirds of all US households. The strategy was a success and the product remained on the market well into the 1990s.

LewRockwell.com Blog: One Word of Truth →
Since seeing a clip of Ron Paul’s exchange with Rudy Giuliani, and the discussion it has sparked, I kept thinking of part of a phrase that I knew somehow came from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: “One word of truth”. It is from a Russian proverb that he quoted at the end of his Nobel lecture: “One word of truth shall outweigh the whole world.” I am glad I finally looked up...

Can We End the American Empire Before It Ends Us? →
Brilliant historian and essayist Chalmers Johnson argues that unless we face up to the tremendous strain our empire is having on America, we will lose our democracy, and then it will not matter much what else we lose.

This is a plug-in for iTunes that improves the sound from music, podcasts and videos greatly. Amazingly. It is like getting much more expensive headphones and speakers for $20. Give the free trial a try! Thanks to Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus on the MacNotables podcast for the recommendation. (There is a PC version though I don’t think it is an iTunes plug-in.)
Ron Paul Responds on CNN's Situation Room,... →
Giuliani… You. Just. Got. Served. Ron Paul discusses at length the full meaning behind last night’s controversial remarks, calling Giuliani out as a politician “hiding behind patriotism” and demands an apology from Rudy for last night’s debacle. This is a must-watch to be sent to every Republican you know.

An unexpected pleasure of watching any Spider-Man movie, and the new release of the third is no exception, is that it allows the viewer to be a voyeur of a largely abandoned ideology, the perspective of the old, old Left.

We now live in a country in which the president wields the power to send the entire nation into war on his own initiative, without the congressional declaration of war required by the Constitution. I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful Quicksilver really is. Nor can I adequately describe exactly what it is. But I will say this - if you own a Mac - download and install Quicksilver right now, then start watching a few of these screencasts and/or read a few of the tutorials. It won’t take long for you to wonder how you survived without it
